Former IBM executive, Ashok
Bhanaut visits DreamOval

On
the 10th of May 2008, DreamOval
was privileged to host Mr. Ashok
Bhanaut, the distinguished
expert on IT developments and
strategy.
During a forum provided by the
MeltWater
Entrepreneurial School of
Technology, DreamOval
was proud to meet with this
visionary, to share ideas on the
creation of a future, prosperous
African technology industry.
With the relationship formed
between DO and Ashok, the DO
team is poised to come out with
even more innovative product
suites and services, that will
provide better solutions to
electronic transaction
processing in Africa.
After brief introductions by all
team members present, he
proceeded to recount his life’s
work and values. A pioneering
developer on the
IBM DB 2
and
IBM
WebSphere, he
discussed interesting
developments on the IT front,
and strongly encouraged the DO
team to respond to the
opportunities being provided in
a rapidly developing Ghana by
remaining professional and
confident.
On his values and thoughts on
life, he strongly believes the
individual should always be
respected and valued above any
work deadline. He also advocated
honesty, consistency in
character and the adherence to
one’s values always over money.
The team was greatly inspired by
the personal life stories,
liveliness, intelligence and the
informed outlook of Ashok
Bhanaut. With the established
relationship, the team looks
forward to similarly rewarding
and beneficial future
interactions with him
About Ashok Bhanaut
Ashok has a PhD in Physics and
has studied at the universities
of Delhi (India), Liverpool
(UK), Cambridge (UK) and
Birmingham (UK). Currently,
Ashok is a member of the
Advisory Board of various
companies in the Netherlands,
Norway, India and US. He has
worked with IBM for 27 years,
holding various executive and
technical architecture positions
including Head of Architecture
and Technology Innovations Group
in The Netherlands, Head of IT
IBM EMEA (Europe, Middle East &
Africa) in Paris. He played a
key role in the implementation
of
Lotus
Notes,
SAP,
WebSphere
and
Siebel
products across the
IBM organization.
His enterprising personality
also led him to supervise
research and pilot activities in
leading edge technologies and
business processes and
collaborations with many Dutch
Universities and IBM
laboratories across the world.
Prior to that however, he was IT
Executive in the Office of the
CIO at IBM Headquarters in New
York ,where he was responsible
for Business Transformation and
Infrastructure for IBM internal
systems Worldwide, including
defining IBM's IT strategy,
architecture and business
transformation at a worldwide
level.
